There is a growing community of bloggers and social media networking users in Cebu City. In the heart of its growth and development these bloggers and internet users disseminate information quickly by means of online tools such as blogger, wordpress, facebook, tumblr, plurk, or twitter.
We, the Cebu Blog Camp team, decided that an important part of development is education and training.
The Cebu Blog Camp Team is centered on helping the youth channel their skills in writing, photography, marketing, and networking into visible results. By educating bloggers and those interested to enter the world of blogging, we believe there can be a better future of the online community of Cebu.
The blogging and promotion of different bloggers also will help the tourism of Cebu as a whole as their blog contents greatly comprises of events, tourist spots, delicacies and other subjects centered on Cebu.
So as part of our major plans for educating the online community of Cebu we decided to bring out activity offline and educate the bloggers through person to person interaction.
Cebu Blog Camp is a free unconference focusing exclusively on blogging, organized by bloggers for bloggers with objectives of sharing and learning new ideas.
An unconference is a facilitated, participant-driven conference centered around a theme or purpose like blogging. The term “unconference” has been applied, or self-applied, to a wide range of gatherings that try to avoid one or more aspects of a conventional conference, such as high fees and sponsored presentations.
For Cebu Blog Camp, participants will register online. Speakers volunteer to take sessions and are allotted time-slots. Anybody can speak on any topic so long as it is related to blogging, micro blogging or any social media in general. The event is highly interactive. It is expected to find the participants jumping right in and even taking over the microphone from the speaker. There is no audience there are only participants and they don’t give speeches they share their knowledge. The environment is very informal and leads a lot of discussions.
Cebu BlogCamp is an excellent place to network with other social media users, hear about what other people are seeing and experiencing in this space and share your own ideas as well. If you are a blogger, you already have an opinion and a voice. BlogCamp is just a wider offline platform to share this.
For advertisers this is a rare occasion where Online Connectors gather in one venue. A precious moment to present your products not just to targeted audiences but also expand market through these bloggers with extraordinary knack of making online friends and acquaintances that span many different unknown worlds and undiscovered markets.
